A psychologist can help identify the causes of this discomfort and teach effective strategies to overcome it. - Conflicts arise with loved ones, problems at work, or difficulties in communication. • 3. How does working with a psychologist proceed?
Working with a psychologist can have several stages and may vary depending on your needs and consultation goals. Initial contact: You seek help at the psychological support center, make the first phone call, or submit a consultation request via email or another convenient method. During this stage, you can learn more about the psychologist's services and discuss your needs. First meeting: The first session is typically initiated and can last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. The psychologist may ask you questions about your problems, life history, emotions, and more to better understand your situation and needs. During this stage, you and the psychologist discuss the goals you want to achieve during your work together and develop an action plan or a plan for future work. Regular meetings: Typically, you meet with the psychologist regularly according to the plan you discussed. The frequency and duration of sessions may vary depending on the situation. During sessions, you work on solving your problems, share your thoughts and emotions, and learn new skills and strategies to overcome difficulties. Evaluation and completion: After working on your goals and completing the consultation process, you and the psychologist evaluate your progress and make decisions about further steps. This may include ending the consultations or continuing to work on other aspects of your life. Remember that working with a psychologist is an individual process, and each case is unique. A psychologist provides confidential support and specialized help to improve your mental well-being and address personal or psychological issues. If you're unsure about which specialist to see, we can help you choose the specialist who is right for you!
  • 4. How many sessions do I need to attend?
The exact number of sessions needed to address your request cannot be determined with 100% accuracy. Some issues can be resolved in a single session, while others may require prolonged work, ranging from 6 months to several years. Psychotherapy always involves an individual approach, so by starting this process with a qualified specialist, you can be assured that your condition will improve with each consultation. Yes, there may be temporary difficulties and even so-called "setbacks," but this is all part of the growth process, which ultimately allows you to better understand yourself and learn to cope with life's challenges independently, without external assistance.
  • 5. How to help a close person seek assistance?
It is very important to suggest to a close person to seek help from a psychologist in a way that doesn't deter them and provides support. To do this, you should: Choose the place and time – where and when you will talk about a difficult topic is crucial. It's best to talk to a close person privately in a quiet, familiar place, choosing a time when they are most relaxed and calm. Be straightforward – you should describe what specifically concerns you as tactfully as possible, provide specific examples, as the person may not realize they have a problem. Avoid judgment and be patient – be prepared for the person to deny and defend themselves. Don't take offense. It's important to express your love and respect for the person and your concern that they are suffering and unable to lead a fulfilling life. Share your own or friends' experiences, if applicable – there are cases when people are reluctant to see a psychologist because they fear judgment from their social circle or don't believe in the effectiveness of therapy. You should provide examples of people who have had a positive experience with a psychologist. Discuss confidentiality – sometimes, a person is afraid that what they share will become public knowledge. It's important to reassure them that a psychologist or therapist will never disclose what the patient has shared with them to anyone. Help find a specialist – if the person has never sought psychological help before, you should assist them in doing so. You can research and suggest several specialists for them to consider. You can also recommend specialists you have personally consulted with. Offer other practical assistance – your close person may not decline such help. For example, you can offer to look after their children or help with household chores while they attend a counseling session.
